Connecting returning service members to career job training opportunities.

It all begins with an idea.

The DOD SkillBridge program offers service members the chance to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last 180 days of service. This program connects transitioning service members with industry partners, allowing them to work and learn in civilian career areas while continuing to receive military compensation and benefits. Industry partners benefit by accessing a highly trained and motivated workforce at no cost.

Commanders can help bridge the gap between military service and civilian careers by permitting SkillBridge participation. Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to train full-time with approved industry partners, who provide real-world training and work experience. This arrangement allows industry partners to evaluate the service member's suitability for future employment.
